OUR PROVIDERS

Ibidunni Ukegbu, MD

Dr Ibidunni Ukegbu (fondly referred to as Dr Ibi) has been a Board Certified Internist for the last 18 years. She graduated from Medical School in 1990 and worked in general practice and anesthsiology prior to her relocation to the United States of America. Since completing her residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Lubbock, TX, she has worked in numerous fields like Outpatient medicine, Emergency medicine, Hospitalist (inpatient medicine) Skilled Nursing and Long term acute medicine.

She transitioned to Outpatient practice and Bariatric medicine because she realized that the current model of disease management relies heavily on putting out fires.

Dr Ibi believes strongly in disease prevention through diet, exercise and lifestyle modification, and this is the driving force behind her passion for teaching her patients how to lose weight and prevent chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and high cholesterol rather than relying only on pills to maintain their health.

When she is not seeing patients, Dr Ibi can be found volunteering at her church, singing in her church choir or relaxing with a book. She loves to cook when she can and often experiments on how she can create healthy vegetarian substitutes to her popular Nigerian dishes.
